Gus Scharr: How do I get AGENT or MANAGER REPRESENTATION? |

Don't get me wrong...I have actually ENJOYED getting gigs on my own all these years. But now, after more than 10 years of "going it alone" I have finally realized that I really want representation. For the last year or so I have engaged in consistent mailings of postcards to agents...but as of yet, NOT ONE has expressed interest in wanting to represent me. Is it my deodorant? :-) But seriously folks...can someone/anyone please offer some solutions or strategies? Thanks! |

Great question Gus. I found what worked for me is attending classes led by casting directors. One of the casting directors for a class I took casted me for a commercial. If you live in New York, or Los Angeles. There are so many classes offered by Casting Directors. Give that a shot. |

I've always been a bit skeptic about those classes...but now I may give that a shot. Thank You! |

Love the Topic. Change deodorants. It worked for me. What I mean by that is change headshots. It could be your headshot. Headshots is your first foot thru the door. Try a different photographer. I had problems with my original headshot, so I changed photographers and the 2nd set was a winner :) |

To get representation, attend the agencies open call. This way they get to see you as you audition and you can give them your headshot and resume and get the chance to tell them a little bit about yourself if they ask. If they like you they will sit with you on the spot or they will schedule a meeting with you for the next step. If they feel you need to develop your skills they will let you know that too. |
